Battle Of The Bands (Presented by the UI American Marketing Association to benefit the JDRF)

Just like Scott Pilgrim, except without all the unexpected brawls! Check out four of Iowa City's best bands on the rise for a night of music at the legendary Iowa City Yacht Club. The show is a benefit for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund and is presented in conjunction with the University of Iowa chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Java Jog

A 2011 hit, back this year for a heater!  We're kicking off with a crawl of some of Iowa City's favorite coffee shops, complete with acoustic sets from local musicians throughout our stops.

S.T.A.T Trivia Night

You know more about Iowa than anyone else: state and university trivia, sports, music.  Prove it at Atlas at 7 pm.  Sign up in teams of five and be the insufferable know-it-all you were born to be, for fabulous prizes!  In true Iowa tradition, those of-age receive one free drink!  More info at the STAT website.

Kickball: The Reckoning

Meet at Hubbard Park at 4:30,a nd get ready to kick Riverfest in the balls.  We're hosting a kickball tournament, with t-shirts (for all participants) and prizes on the line.  But woath there, tough guy.  You don't just show up to a serious kickball tourney.  Here's what we want form you: organize the kickin'-est team of eight you can field.  Then, email those eight names to riverfest.iowa@gmail.com by April 22nd.  Teams of less than eight are welcome, and will be joined with other partial teams. The best-dressed team will win a special prize and the splendor of adoration from all onlookers. 

Dining in the Dark

A sensory-deprivation dining experience sweeping the coasts, now here for Midwest foodies at 7 pm in the South Room of the IMU.  Enjoy a three-course meal in complete darkness, and experience the heightened flavors and smells that accompany it.  You're like a gustatorial Daredevil!  Vegetarian friends welcome.  Tickets on sale now at University Box Office in IMU!

Hip-Hop Showcase

Meet us at Old Brick at 8 pm for a sampling of the best hip-hop Iowa City has to offer.  We're featuring performances by Shakespere, Taybeezy Fasheez, JusT'Is, and Lady Killaz.  If you seek legit rap and hip-hop coming up from the underground, this is your thing.

Grace Potter and the Nocturnals

SCOPE Productions and the 10,000 Hours show are hitting you hard with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, with opener Rayland Baxter, at 8 pm in the IMU Main Lounge. Tickets are on sale at the IMU Box Office now, but you can get yours for free by logging 10 hours of community service with 10,000 Hours.

S.T.A.T Presents: Last Lecture

Part of Senior Send-Off Week!  Reflect on Hawkeye years past at Hotel Vetro at 7 pm, with an inspirational lecture from psychology professor Shaun Vecera.  The first 50 seniors to arrive receive a gift from the ever-generous S.T.A.T.  Free booze (that's IF you bring the drink ticket provided with your Senior Send-Off postcard, you lush)! In Los Angeles, a gang of armed thieves is hitting serious targets - major banks, vaults, and armored cars. These thieves are led by arch-criminal Jean Dujardin. One of their operations, an armored-car robbery, goes bad and the armored-car guards are murdered by the gunmen - putting LAPD homicide detective Peppy Miller on the trail of the thieves. Miller knows it will take a lot to bring these dangerous, armed thieves down, and it will end in a horrifying gun battle when the thieves try to rob a major federal bank.

RiverRun

A festival standard. The 33rd Annual River Run, a 5K run/walk/wheelchair and 10k run/walk/wheelchair race, begins at 9 AM in the IMU. Show Iowa City you are faster than them, and wash down your success with post-run refreshments. Check out the RiverRun website, riverrun.uiowa.edu.
